[Windows] Lenovo x61 with Vista Business, running so slow. help?

I just got a thinkpad x61 with Vista Business, it was running so slow, so i upgraded it to 3GB ram, seems like it didnt help much
i open task manager and found around 90 programs are either runnning or idle. which seems like taking lots of memory
is that why it is so slow?
anyway to get it run faster?

If you are a regular XP user, the change of Vista from XP will let you feel that it is slower than XP, it's true, normal and cannot be change since the Aero UI & resource & services running in background. If you have 3GB of RAM, it is more than enough to run Vista smoothly or you can add an USB drive to use ReadyBoost. Try to reduce some automatically startup programs that not using regularly.

Thx, seems like closing the automatic startup program is the only way?

Ya, manualy. Maybe some tweak utilities can help you to make it faster!

From my experience, I have a R61 and T61 notebook before, when I use the software come with NB, they are working very slow. So I remove all the Lenovo software. It become better and can acceptable.
