The Mail on Sunday leads with the story, which makes sense as the Blues are edging closer to a deal for the Brazilian Real Madrid forward-cum-winger.
Stamford Bridge boss Luiz Felipe Scolari went on record saying he wanted "three or four players for the two right and left wing positions" and with Shaun Wright-Phillips looking to have worked his way into the Brazilian's good books, Malouda - who has disappointed since joining from Lyon for £18m last summer - could be allowed to leave.
It would represent a fair coup for the Newcastle United transfer unit, who were under pressure after initially only signing Danny Guthrie, Jonas Gutierrez and Sebastien Bassong - and losing out on several targets - since coming into effect in December.

After Arsenal's young guns were out-fired by lowly Fulham, The Express reckons that they will renew their interest in Xabi Alonso.
Liverpool boss Rafael Benitez has made it clear that he wants to sell the Spain midfielder - who would strike up a partnership with national team-mate Cesc Fabregas - and has even told him that they need the money to buy Steven Gerrard's buddy Gareth Barry. £16m is the fee being bandied about for Alonso.
Bolton are continuing their efforts to sign Fulham midfielder and Transfer Talk favourite Jimmy Bullard, but have given up on Reading's James Harper.
"We've made an offer for Bullard and it wasn't accepted, so we will have to see where we go now," Megson told the Sunday Mirror.
"But the Harper thing has been going on for so long now that it has run its course.
"Steve Coppell and Reading don't obviously want to sell, so on that basis we will move on."
Tottenham Hotspur are set to make a surprise £10m bid for Emile Heskey, according to the News of the World. Wigan boss Steve Bruce will sell the England striker if a deal is done quickly, and Spurs are desperate for more firepower after they were outgunned in a 2-1 home defeat to Sunderland despite dominating possession.
Of course this means Dimitar Berbatov - who didn't play on Saturday because "his head wasn't right" (Juande Ramos said so) - is off to Manchester United, and after the stalling of deals for overpriced Russian duo Andrei Arshavin and Roman Pavlyuchenko, Heskey is a tried and trusted option.
