Armero talks about Copa America and match against Argentina
After the first round of the Copa America, which is being played in Argentina, only Colombia, of left defender Pablo Armero, and Chile won their games. "I think every year is more balanced between the teams. No more favoritism among teams and teams from the same region that know each other. When you enter the field, the players have to work harder to earn a victory. You must have a team", analyzes Armero, explaining how Colombia got the win in the competition.
"We got the goal with our ability at the beginning. Then we controlled the match. The press did not like it. But the victory is very important in a short tournament like the Copa America."
Colombia is headquartered in Santa Fe to compete in the 2011 Copa America. This Wednesday the team will play "home" against hosts Argentina. Pablo Armero played 80 minutes against Argentina at the Monumental de Nunes, for the 2010 World Cup Qualifiers, and remembers how the match was.
"I remember well the game, the stadium and the fans. Argentina has a great story, a good team and great players. Let's enter in the field the same way we always do. Doing our work and seeking the victory. It will be a very difficult game", said Armero, who will play his 20th game for the Colombian national team since his debut in 2008. |
