Rafa Benitez has set his squad a 12-point target for the group stages of the Champions League.
While 10 points from six games is often enough to see teams through to the second round, the Liverpool boss wants his players to take no chances in a group which pits them against FC Porto, Marseille and Besiktas.
"We could need around 12 in this group. I cannot say because sometimes you can pass through with fewer points. I want to be sure so I think 12 would be better than 10," the Spaniard told Liverpoolfc.tv.
First up is a trip to Porto on Tuesday, and with players like Quaresma waiting to dent his side's hopes, Benitez knows he can't take anything for granted.
"They have quality, players with ability. The workrate in the middle is important for them and also they have experience. They are a difficult team to play against, even more so because of the atmosphere in the stadium. It will be really difficult for us." |
