The Ferrari 599XX is already one of the most formidable road car based race cars in the world. But for the 2012-2013 season Ferrari’s engineers have introduced a package of performance-enhancing technical features available to clients participating in the track-based research program.
The 599XX now features improved chassis dynamics courtesy of an active aerodynamic package connected to the car’s electronic control systems, and a set of new Pirelli tires. The car is also more powerful than before, by 50 horsepower, taking the total to 750 hp. And to top it all off, it’s 35 kgs (77 lbs) lighter.
The new aerodynamics package for the 599XX also includes a modified front splitter and a new rear diffuser featuring a larger surface area. Total downforce at 120 mph (200 km/h) has been increased to 330 kg when the flaps are open and 440 kg in the closed configuration.
The 50 horsepower increase in output, and corresponding rise in maximum torque output (700 Nm), was achieved thanks to new side-exit exhaust pipes. These replace the standard 599XX’s twin exhaust system which exits through the rear diffuser.
The 599XX Evolution Package also includes a new final gear ratio which is slightly shorter, resulting in improved accelaration. Especially good for complicated, medium to high-speed circuits. |
