KEWELL PASSES NIGERIAN TEST
Harry Kewell was one of 11 Reds in international action over the weekend, completing 90 minutes as Australia beat Nigeria 1-0.
Steve Finnan and Andriy Voronin both won their 50th caps, though neither will feature in next summer's European Championships after the Republic of Ireland and Ukraine failed to qualify.
Finnan played 90 minutes of a 2-2 draw in Wales while Voronin endured 67 minutes of his country's 2-0 defeat to Lithuania.
There was better news for Dirk Kuyt and Ryan Babel, both second-half substitutes as Holland secured Euro 2008 qualification with a 1-0 victory over Luxembourg.
Up in Norway, John Arne Riise played 90 minutes as he and his countrymen lost 2-1 to Turkey. The Norwegians must now beat Malta on Wednesday and hope Turkey stumble at home to Bosnia.
Sami Hyypia's Finland kept alive their hopes of qualifying with a 2-1 victory over Azerbaijan, the Liverpool man playing the whole match. He and his teammates must now beat Portugal in midweek to get through.
Scott Carson, Steven Gerrard and Peter Crouch all started for England in their friendly win over Austria on Friday, with Crouch netting the only goal of the game.
And Momo Sissoko's Mali lost 3-2 to Senegal.
