ON THIS DAY: DECEMBER 4, 1909

How often does a side score five goals against Liverpool at Anfield?

It's fair to say it's not a regular occurrence, so when your team does manage it, you probably expect to celebrate victory.

But it wasn't the case for Newcastle on this day in 1909.

The Geordies hit five in front of the Anfield faithful but were still left disappointed as goals from Arthur Goddard, Ronald Orr (2), Jack Parkinson (2) and James Stewart clinched a remarkable 6-5 win for the Reds.
