iverpool manager Rafael Benitez is hoping to put recent acrimony aside and stay at Anfield for many years to come.
The Spaniard's relationship with club co-owners Tom Hicks and George Gillett was strained recently following a row over transfers, although clear-the-air talks held after last weekend's defeat to Manchester United appear to have brought peace to Merseyside.
A run of three defeats in four games has added to Benitez's headache, with his side crashing out of the Carling Cup and losing ground in the Barclays Premier League title race.
But despite the recent pressures, the Reds boss is adamant that he will see out the remaining four years of his contract - and then look to stay even longer.
'I'd like to fulfil my contract and extend it, if possible,' he said in The Sun.
'We are already very close to winning the Premier League. We are now eight points ahead of what we had last year.' |
