Spurs man welcomes exit talk
Tottenham Hotspur’s forgotten man Ricardo Rocha has openly welcomed suggestions that he could be poised for a return to his former club Benfica.
The 29-year-old has made only 13 Premier League starts since a £3.3 million move from Portugal in January 2007 and his last appearance for Spurs came all the way back in September.
Injuries have not helped his cause but the suspicion remains that he may not be a part of Juande Ramos’ plans at White Hart Lane as the Spanish boss plots a top-six finish next season and a renewed assault on his favourite competition, the Uefa Cup.
Benfica, now led by Spaniard Quique Sanchez Flores, are reported to be interested in their former defender and Rocha would have no hesitation in returning to Estadio da Luz.
“Benfica is the club of my heart, always was and always will be,” said Rocha to TSF.
“It was there that I graduated as a man and as a player.
“I won titles and was able to jump to a major championship in the world.
“I have a lot to thank Benfica for and if one day there’ll be an opportunity to return I would see it as a great opportunity.” |
