Eduardo back in business for Gunners
Eduardo da Silva has taken a giant step back to action with Arsenalfollowing a horrific leg injury sustained in February by participatingin training with Arsene Wenger’s squad, according to reports in theCroatian press.
When the Croatia international suffered a double fracture of his legand dislocation of his ankle following a challenge from BirminghamCity’s Martin Taylor it was feared that his career could be in jeopardy.
But quick work from then Arsenal physio Gary Lewin and a successfuloperation put the Brazilian-born star on the road to recovery after thetrauma he suffered at St Andrews.
Arsene Wenger has recently made very positive noises regardingEduardo’s possible return to action and the striker, who scored 12goals last season after joining The Gunners from Dinamo Zagreb, toldsetantasports.com at the start of September that he hoped to be playingby Christmas.
While no return date has yet been set, Arsenal coach Boro Primorac hasbeen quoted as welcoming the sight of Eduardo training on Wednesday.
“Eduardo is for the first time today [Wednesday] practicing with theteam after his serious injury,” Primorac told Sportske Novosti.
“Of course, he worked with reduced capacity, mainly stretching andjogging. He is not yet at the stage where he can go into full contact,but it will come.
“I cannot tell you exactly when Eduardo will play the first match. That will be when it is decided that he is completely ready.
“It is clear that the first match Eduardo will play will be for the reserves, before gradually joining the top team.”
