Benitez gives Keane Anfield hope
Robbie Keane looks likely to stay at Liverpool after manager Rafael Benitez revealed "no new offers" had been received for the 28-year-old striker.
But Benitez stopped just short of a definitive answer on Keane's future.
"I think Robbie Keane will be here when the transfer window shuts," said Benitez, who left Keane out of his squad for the 2-0 win over Chelsea.
"I haven't seen any new offers. I don't know if the club have had any offers. He's here, he's our player. That's it."
Keane joined Liverpool in a £20.3m transfer from Tottenham in July but he has struggled to establish himself in Benitez's first-choice line-up, scoring just five league goals in 19 appearances this season.
The Republic of Ireland international, who has been linked with a return to Spurs, was dropped from the squad for the FA Cup draw with Everton but returned for the Premier League game with Wigan, albeit as a late substitute.
"He was left out because we were considering all our good players and who we needed for this game," added Benitez, explaining Keane's non-involvement against Chelsea.
"It was only a decision based on this match and our requirements.
"I have spoken to Robbie, he was there in the dressing room beforehand, and we also spoke afterwards and we were just talking about the game.
"He was pleased because the team had won. He is part of my squad, I would expect him to be in my Champions League squad."
Last week, Benitez spoke of his unhappiness at the speculation surrounding Keane's future.
What do you think about Keane's future at Anfield?
Spurs boss Harry Redknapp insisted he had done nothing wrong.
"I only answered the question: do you wish Robbie Keane was still at the club and I said yes," he told BBC Radio 5 Live.
"I wish Michael Carrick was still at the club, but he is not - it is hypothetical and it's not going to happen unfortunately.
"I wish Dave Mackay was 22 and still playing here and Glenn Hoddle was 18 and still here. That's all I said."
During the summer Spurs were unhappy with Liverpool's conduct when they signed Keane, a situation that was only resolved when the Reds apologised and made a donation to a charity of Tottenham's choice
