Nope, you need driver disk to install Sata hard drive. Usuallly people will burn the Sata driver to floppy disk and install with that, this is just the case for window XP installation. If you need to install window Vista, I do not believe that you need the driver. There is also a way to install XP on Sata without sata driver. You will need a program call "nLite".
