United winger Cristiano Ronaldo can't wait to team up with new signings Anderson and Nani and says the pair will be “very welcome” at Old Trafford.
The Reds have agreed deals with the players’ respective clubs, FC Porto and Sporting Lisbon, to bring the Portugal-based pair to Manchester, much to the delight of Ronaldo.
“I’m really happy that I will have Nani and Anderson as team-mates,” Ronaldo told Portuguese newspaper A Bola. “They will be very welcome at Manchester United!
“I can only say that Manchester United will be stronger because they have contracted two great players.”
Nani, 20, scored for Portugal in a 2-1 win over Belgium on Saturday to keep up the pressure at the top of Euro 2008 qualifying Group A. It was a goal reminiscent of what Ronaldo has done all season, cutting inside from the left before firing the ball low and just inside the post.
Meanwhile, Anderson, named in Brazil’s Copa America squad, has been tipped for success in the Premiership by Porto president Jorge Nuno Pinto da Costa. He said: "I wish him happiness at Manchester United, he will have a great career there." |
