With Asparagus Fern, you have to be mindful of where you plant them. Here in Australia it was declared in NSW under the Noxious Weeds Act in 1993.
Quote "Asparagus fern is a native of South Africa and was introduced to Australia as an ornamental plant. Asparagus fern is commonly spread by dumped garden waste that contains seeds and rhizomes and by birds that eat the colourful berries and deposit the seeds in their droppings. The seeds germinate readily and start new infestations.
This weed is invasive and poses a significant threat to the bushland environment" Unquote.
A few years ago, I saw them being grown in public parks and nature strips in HK, it was a bit of a shock to the system.
When ever I see them in my garden, I would immediately pull them out, it is a never ending chore.
Great info Norman!!
