Tottenham Hotspur have swooped to sign their second goalkeeper of the summer with Italy youth international Mirko Ranieri joining Heurelho Gomes in making the move to North London.
Spurs announced that Gomes will join from PSV Eindhoven when the transfer window opens and the Brazil international is expected to be Juande Ramos’ number one next season.
However, the Premier League club are also looking to build from below and to that end have now signed 16-year-old Ranieri who will link up with the club’s youth academy.
“Mirko is 6ft 2in and an excellent shot stopper,” Spurs sporting director Damien Comolli told the club’s official website.
“His distribution and decision-making is improving all the time.
“He is a highly-intelligent individual and another very good young goalkeeper we have attracted to the club.”
