大佛禅院原名大佛寺(民间又称大佛殿)，原址位于峨眉山市区东郊，明代无穷国师开创，历时15年建成。寺院占地300余亩，拥有多重大殿、140多间禅房。因寺内大悲殿供奉了一尊高12米的千手千眼观世音菩萨铜像，明万历皇帝的母亲慈圣皇太后特意赐寺名“大佛寺”。 4 J) b& T" R- k$ X$ p# f* W# o% ]2 t( Otvb now,tvbnow,bttvb) a4 F. c& j% z

A little disappointed cos the pictures were more of the monks and not many on the temple itself, except the temple on the outside. The temple is magnificent and splendid,the huge thousand hands Kwan-Yin statue here is a focus.The temple here is a place for marriage ceremony,from the pictures we can see the senior buddhist are leading the ceremony processing .
