They are found in various part of the world, especially around south east Asia, some are built along the the seaside, riverbank or on dry land.  Once a tour guide told me that in many South East Asian countries, the local are very proud of having their house built on the highest stilts, it helps to protect them from flood, wild animals, and thieves too.公仔箱論壇2 a: |1 H4 r4 ^. d8 V; Z2 a
