Gareth Southgate has reiterated that Stewart Downing is 'not available' and that there have been no approaches for the Middlesbrough winger.
Ahead of the closure of the transfer window, Downing continues to be linked with a move away from the Riverside.
Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur have long been mooted as fans of the England international, while Sunderland have recently been credited with an interest.
Downing signed a new contract earlier this year and has pledged his immediate future to the club after admitting he wants to help Boro push for the UEFA Champions League.
Boro boss Southgate is aware of the rumours surrounding Downing, but feels other clubs are aware of his stance on the 24-year-old.
"I keep reading it, but the sands of time are running out and there is no approach," Southgate said.
"Clubs know we have no interest in doing any business there, so I presume that's why they haven't bothered.
"Obviously it would appeal to many, but he is not available. It's very straightforward."
