Milan are hoping to sign Manchester United left-back Patrice Evra on a free transfer at the end of next season, French newspaper Le Parisien reveals.
The French international is a key player for the European champions, but his contract is set to expire next June and Sir Alex Ferguson is desperate to keep him at Old Trafford.
The Red Devils are planning to offer him a lucrative new contract in the coming weeks, but the former Monaco defender is asking for £3.5m per year.
The 27-year-old has already played in Italy after spells with Sicilian team Marsala and Monza between 1998 and 2000.
Meanwhile, Milan general director Ariedo Braida has commented on the negotiations for Barcelona trio Ronaldinho, Samuel Eto'o and Gianluca Zambrotta.
“The truth is that we don't need the Brazilian as much. We do not care about rumours, just facts,” claimed Braida.
“Eto'o is a great player and there is always a chance for him to join us. We realise it is a difficult deal and we will have to pay Barcelona lots of money.
“Zambrotta admitted he would like to play for us - this is really important. However, we are at the beginning of negotiations and there is a huge difference between our offer and their demands. With time this margin will be reduced.”
