Arsène Wenger believes Arsenal’s young players must be trusted if they are to reach the top level.
The Club’s under-19 side were knocked out of the NextGen Series by Chelsea at the semi-final stage on Friday, having previously beaten the likes of CSKA Moscow and Inter Milan.
Wenger was impressed with the under-19s’ exploits in Europe, and feels the Club’s young players have an exciting future ahead of them.
What is important is to trust young players to do it in the future

“In the NextGen team we have good players,” he said. “In the Champions League we have no English team in the quarter-final. In the NextGen, you had three English teams in the semi-final - Aston Villa, Chelsea and Arsenal. That shows that the future looks quite bright for us.
“We have good young English players. We have five English players in the national team.
“What is important is to trust young players to do it in the future because everybody just wants to bring in names. That’s where we have to be strong enough to do the right thing.” |
