Spanish side Almeria claim they have beaten Manchester United and Juventus to the signature of Argentinian starlet Pablo Daniel Piatti.
The 19-year-old leaves Estudiantes for Almeria, and becomes the club’s most expensive signing in the history.
Piatti won the Under-20 World Cup in 2007 alongside Atletico Madrid hero Sergio ‘Kun’ Aguerro.
Barcelona prodigy Lionel Messi has called his fellow countryman a phenomenon, and tipped him to be a hit in La Liga.
Almeria have signed the youngster on a seven-year deal and declared on their official website that The Red Devils offered Piatti a move to Old Trafford.
“Piatti becoming UD Almeria’s record signing is not vain, as the club say that Juventus and Manchester United wanted to secure the Argentinian’s services as well,” read a statement on the club’s official website. |
